Ethyl Lactate is obtained by esterification of ethanol in the presence of sulfuric acid. A colorless liquid with a slight odor. Miscible with water, can be miscible in alcohols, aromatics, esters, hydrocarbons, oils and other organic solvents. Flammable and explosive in the presence of oxidizing agents.
Ethyl Lactate is a food flavor allowed to be used in China. It is mainly used in the preparation of food flavors such as apple, pineapple, caramel, and frankinse, as well as in liquor flavors such as rum and white wine. Generally 1000mg/kg in alcoholic beverages; 580 ~ 3100mg/kg in chewing gum; Baked goods 71mg/kg; 28mg/kg in candy; 17mg/kg in cold drinks. In addition, it can also be used as a solvent for cellulose ester, resin, paint, etc., and also used as a cleaning agent for spices and electronic products.
